Inventory vs. Auction: Buying on QuickAuction
QuickAuction gives buyers two ways to purchase items: Inventory and Auction.
Both offer great opportunities to find vehicles and other items, but they work differently. Understanding the difference can help you decide how you'd like to shop.
Inventory
Inventory is an always-available marketplace where sellers list items for buyers to browse.
While shopping Inventory, you can:
- Browse available listings at any time.
- Submit an offer on an item.
- Purchase an item immediately using Buy It Now (if available).
- Return later if you're still deciding, as Inventory listings do not have an auction countdown.
Inventory is a great option if you prefer negotiating directly with a seller or purchasing an item immediately using Buy It Now.
Auction
Auctions are live, time-limited events where buyers compete by placing bids.
When an item enters an Auction:
- A 7-day countdown begins.
- Buyers compete by placing bids.
- The highest bid at the end of the auction is presented to the seller for approval.
- Some listings may also include a Buy It Now option, allowing you to purchase the item immediately if it's still available.
Auctions are ideal if you're looking for competitive pricing and enjoy bidding against other buyers.

What Happens After I Win?
If the seller accepts your offer or winning bid:
- QuickAuction collects the applicable buyer and seller platform fees.
- Buyer and seller contact information is securely shared.
- You and the seller arrange payment directly.
- You coordinate pickup with the seller.
- If an issue occurs before pickup or the item is significantly different from its description, either party may submit a dispute for review.
Important: QuickAuction facilitates the marketplace and collects applicable platform fees, but payment for the item itself is arranged directly between the buyer and seller after contact information has been exchanged.
What Happens If the Seller Declines My Bid?
Not every winning bid results in a sale.
If the seller declines your highest bid:
- The item will not be sold.
- No purchase is completed.
- Your buyer fee will not be charged.
You can continue browsing Inventory and Auctions for other opportunities.
